Nerrupu Da! Kabali hits Sultan right where it hurts
Kabali first day collection beats Sultan
Kabali is out and people have gone nuts! With the Thalaivar mania spreading across the world, we weren’t surprised when shows on Friday sold houseful at 4 in the morning. From offering milk to Rajini anna’s posters, to walking into the theatre bare feet as a mark of respect, Kabali craze will take its own time to calm the f down.
In true Rajini style, it even managed to break at least 7 records BEFORE its release. YES! Anna’s swag works on a whole other level, people. The movie broke out in more than 5000 screens all around the world, and stirred a storm that won’t quit.
Kabali earned net Rs 21.5 Crore in Tamil Nadu alone on the first day itself. The highest, in TN box office history. This makes Salman ‘Bhaijaan’ Khan’s Sultan collection seem nothing more than a packet of “roasted” peanuts. (Get it?) With both the movies releasing within a week of each other, Garvi Gujarati thinks Bhaijaan took quite the risk by releasing his film so close to the south superstar’s.
Advance booking for tickets in the south; Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and, foreign countries are getting out of hand and distributors and producers of Kabali are probably lying in a pool of $$$$$$ right now. Thalaivar earned Rs 3 Crore in Kerala, Rs 5.1 Crore in Karnataka, and Rs 9.5 Crore in Andhra. Taran Adarsh tweeted that the movie collected somewhere around Rs 5.20 Crore in the north. The statistics itself is enough to make Bhai weep.
With his entry, it has beaten Happy New Year, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo and Sultan’s first day collection too, which had earned Rs 44.97, Rs 40.35 and Rs 36.54 crores respectively.
While Garvi Gujarati loves both the superstars, with Rajini’s moves and the ever steady tempo the film maintains from start to finish, Kabali takes the icing.
Bhai toh ketlaaye hoy, baap toh baap aj rehse.
